75 YEARS OF INDEPENDENCE OR INDIAN INDEPENDENCE?
When INDIA got freedom, she had only colonial experience of almost two hundred years with a severe wound of partition. So to administer and make social reforms were not a easy task. Like any other country in this world INDIA is , rather should be, a country of its citizens (?) and not a very small group of people only. We, the general citizens, are not meant to give( render) services to that small section of people against different kinds of TIPS that people generally give to the restaurant waiters. Its a country and not a restaurant.
So within this 75 years of INDEPENDENCE many questions have arisen in our mind such as—–
1) what is the fate of INDIA’S political and intellectual life?2) whether unification and protection of the upper classes are the primary objective of present INDIA?
3) why social workers need to get strong connection with the so called politicians in power?
4) what is the future of the Tribals and Dalits, underprivileged and marginalised citizens of INDIA?
5) to what extent we have to submit to customs?
6) whether the NATIONAL EDUCATION POLICY be perfect for making of our citizens of future?
7) what are the future projections of the Government (short term and long term) primarily in the following sectors:-
Transport, Supply of pure drinking water, Environment, Agriculture, Industry, Service sectors, Housing, Food, Health, Energy management, Employment, Foreign policy, Technology, Science, Research and Development, Defence management, Interstate relationships, future of Democratic Right of MOTHER LANGUAGE, Media and Entertainment, Supporting Entrepreneurship and other BASIC and PRIMARY NEEDS of our life?
8) whether all the sectors mentioned above be able to work without political intervention?
9) when will equity of women be materialized?
10) when will Child Labour abolish?
11) what will be the fate of the Unorganised Sectors?
12) what will be the role of Religion ( DHARMA) in functioning democracy?
We all know not less than 100 questions of this character might be raised. But the basic question is whether we will get the answers of these questions while celebrating the year long ceremony of YEARS OF INDEPENDENCE UTSOV? Whether the COMMON PEOPLE will be recognised or will again be limited within some small groups?
At the time of celebrating the 50th year of Independence we have heard a lot ‘ Promises to Keep ‘. We have not defined “DEVELOPMENT ” but we are making plans ,projects and policies for it. Whether the money we spend in purchasing war weapons, foreign tours or visits , luxury planes or the amount of money siphoned out from our home country ,luxury malls, hotels etc are the determining factors of development ?
Recently an international organisation has assessed the condition of democracy in India. We have every right to ignore it. But it is our responsibility to prove our own success in every sector and establish our own modern and enlightened democracy in true sense. Let us CELEBRATE the UTSOV.
JOY HIND.
